The city

With 279 sunny days per year Ontario is in the heart of southern California, just east of Los Angeles and has a population close to 180,000. The city is calm, diverse, and family friendly in an area close to scenic nature – from beaches, deserts, parks and mountains. Some popular places to visit are the Ontario Museum of History and Art, the historic landmark of Graber Olive House (the longest operating Olive packing business in the United States) and Toyota Arena for concerts and sport events. For those who enjoy living the active California lifestyle, hike the nearby Claremont Loop or take a drive to Mount Baldy or visit one of the several wineries northeast of the city.

Ontario first developed as an agricultural community, largely devoted to the citrus industry. The Sunkist plant remains in Ontario to this day. In addition to oranges, the production of peaches, walnuts, lemons, olives, and grapes were also important to the growth of Ontario and the neighboring city of Upland.

The surroundings

Located thirty-five miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles, Ontario is part of the Greater LA area and is known as the "gateway to Southern California".
