Overview

Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for developing and testing the Electric Vehicle’s control software while working with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop controls algorithms for Electric Vehicles
  • Development cycle includes Software Design, Implementation, Simulation, Testing, and System Integration.
  • Design and Develop Diagnostics for EV
  • Develop software according to various safety standards (including Functional Safety / ISO 26262)
  • Collaborate with system engineers to determine vehicle and sub-system requirements, and implement them into software design
  • Design and implement software/hardware-in-the-Loop testing, Vehicle integration testing
  • Work with the validation team to develop DVP and test methods to check functionalities on bench and on the integrated vehicle.
  • Develop design solutions to control problems applying an understanding of electrical, mechanical, thermal systems.
  • Perform data analysis to improve system efficiency
  • Perform module calibration to optimize efficiency and performance.
  • Analyze CAN data from the field, provide necessary assistance to filed technicians, and recommend software improvements.
  • Support, manage, and release software for various projects

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Qualifications, Experience, Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls and Computer Control Systems
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience working on automotive and/or electromechanical systems
  • Familiarity with heavy-duty vehicle systems
  • Expertise in MATLAB Simulink & Stateflow
  • Understanding of CAN communication and J1939 standard
  • Experience with CAN communication tools such as Vector CANalyzer, Kvaser, etc.
  • Experience in Functional Safety / ISO26262 standard
  • Experience with embedded C code review and development
  • Basic understanding of Power Electronics Inverter, DC-DC Converters, Chargers
  • Knowledge of energy storage systems (HV battery) and its controls
  • Understanding of automotive development processes and V-cycle
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Python scripting is advantageous.
  • Experience with New Eagle/Raptor environment for development and testing is an asset
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently on projects
  • Detail oriented with superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to a rapidly changing work environment with fluctuating priorities
  • Valid passport with ability to travel to USA.

Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time. This position may work in the plant and outdoors in the field, therefore subject to all weather conditions sometimes to include extreme cold and heat. The work described while working in the plant or field will require wearing all PPE depending on circumstance which may include safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection, leather gloves, safety vest and steel toed boots.
