Hexagon Purus USA Ltd. is focused on designing and manufacturing high pressure composite cylinders and hydrogen storage systems for zero emission solutions. We service the automotive and aerospace sectors, providing solutions for hydrogen storage, and control systems. Hexagon Purus develops and manufactures hydrogen cylinders, vehicle battery packs and systems integration modules.

We are seeking an experienced leader to become the Plant Director of our Westminster, MD facility where we manufacture award-winning products that support zero-emission transportation for the world’s leading companies in automotive and aerospace.

The Plant Director will lead serial production, quality, supply chain management, manufacturing engineering, EHS, operational excellence, and maintenance / technical teams in support of our World Class Manufacturing (WCM) efforts throughout the facility. Our site is small but growing – and has an outsized impact on our business.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the production DNA for our Westminster, MD manufacturing facility.
  • Relentlessly pursue opportunities to improve standards, implementing new quality and production standards for new product and customer introduction in concert with worldwide R&D and manufacturing teams.
  • Coach, mentor, and grow our team of dedicated production operations, quality, manufacturing engineering, CI / OpEx, and skilled tradespeople.
  • Drive a culture of excellence, fostering accountability for challenging production targets and exceeding our customers’ expectations for service.
  • Lead the implementation of new production processes, systems, and products.
  • Champion health and safety, environment, quality, process, and operational excellence.
  • Manage key relationships with suppliers and key international internal stakeholders to deliver quality products for our customers.
  • Exchange and foster good practice with peers of Hexagon Purus globally.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for production KPI data and work with all teams to detect and correct problems, improve efficiency, and drive positive change to deliver exceptional products.
  • Assist subordinate teams in the standardization of Work Instructions, Process Specifications, Training Documents and other documentation.
  • Estimate production costs, set and manage production budgets; implement cost control programs.
  • Ensure robust supply chain management, overseeing shipping/receiving functions.
  • Direct small and large plant maintenance, construction, repair and renovation projects.
  • Develop and conduct or source safety programs and training of all supervisors and employees to ensure a thorough knowledge and understanding of safety policies, regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures, OSHA, EPA, state and federal regulations to ensure clean, orderly and safe working conditions.
  • Ensure the implementation of all OSHA standards and regulations in a timely manner, and maintain all necessary records, including safety reports such as near miss and incident reports.
  • Continually develop the site into a smart factory.

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree and 5+ years of experience managing production operations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written/verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to work effectively at all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and coaching teams of 10+ cross-functional managers and individual contributors.
  • Experience running a multiple shift operation is important.
  • Thorough understanding of automotive, aerospace, food service, or other regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of health and safety as well as environmental standards and compliance.
  • Extensive experience in lean manufacturing; Six Sigma Black Belt is helpful.
  • ERP knowledge at a detailed level; IFS is a bonus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours to assist in meeting manufacturing and project requirements as needed, ultimately supporting multiple daily production shifts.
  • Must be United States citizen, or lawful permanent resident.
