Electrical Engineer (Production Support)

At Hexagon Purus, we pride ourselves on our advanced engineering and dedication to quality. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our production support team and support our automotive manufacturing facility in Mesquite, TX. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless production operations and acting as the key liaison between our manufacturing site and the larger engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Support: Provide on-site support for any unexpected electrical issues during the production of electric semi trucks. Troubleshoot and resolve problems in real-time to minimize downtime and ensure production schedules are met.
  • Liaison Role: Serve as the primary point of contact between the production team and the larger engineering organization. Communicate technical issues, propose solutions, and relay feedback effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Analyze and diagnose electrical systems, components, and circuits to identify the root cause of issues. Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all issues encountered, solutions implemented, and any modifications made. Ensure that all changes are properly documented and communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the production environment. Collaborate with the engineering team to enhance production efficiency, quality, and reliability.
  • Independent Operations: Operate independently at a production site separate from the main engineering team. Exhibit strong self-management skills to handle responsibilities without direct oversight.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to production staff on the proper operation and maintenance of electrical systems. Ensure that all team members are equipped with the knowledge to handle routine issues.
  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure that all electrical systems meet the company’s stringent quality standards. Conduct inspections and tests as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on production support, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Experience in the automotive industry, particularly with electric vehicles or heavy-duty trucks, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of electric powertrain systems, high-voltage systems, battery management systems, and related technologies.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, self-driven, and capable of managing time effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for electrical engineering in automotive or heavy-duty truck environments.
  • Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or relevant technical certifications are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a remote or semi-autonomous role.
  • Previous experience as a liaison between production and engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance related to electric vehicles.
